The world building is the achievement. Toshara and Akiva are dressed with the used-future grain that defines the original films, cantinas are full of practical-looking creature design, and the Sabacc table is a real game with a working bluff economy. Kay and Nix are likeable, and the reputation system between syndicates is a genuinely good idea for a Star Wars story about a criminal with no allegiance. Then the missions arrive.

Instant fail states on detection undo a decade of stealth design progress, forcing checkpoint restarts for a mistake the systems elsewhere are flexible enough to absorb. Combat is a single blaster with cooldown modes and no meaningful build variety, so encounters resolve identically for twenty hours. Enemy perception is inconsistent enough that failure often feels arbitrary rather than earned. Post-launch patches loosened the worst of it. The setting deserved a better game attached to it, and the parts are visible under the friction.
