Still the only baseball game worth owning, and the thinnest year San Diego Studio has asked full price for.

The fielding overhaul is the honest headline. Catches on the run, cutoff throws, and a reaction rating split into four directions instead of one make defence read like baseball rather than like a fixed animation waiting to finish. Road to the Show now starts in high school and runs through the College World Series before the draft, which finally gives a career a first act. The automated ball strike system is in, so a bad call can be challenged, and the fourth run of Storylines: The Negro Leagues remains the best thing any sports game does with history, researched and narrated and played rather than watched. Stadium Creator returns for anyone who wants to build the park.

What none of that covers is how little else moved. Pitching and hitting are last year's, the presentation is polished and visibly ageing, and long stretches in the field still pass with nothing asked of the player. Diamond Dynasty stacks a Red Diamond tier on an economy already built to be outrun by spending. Reviews landed around seventy two, the lowest the series has taken, and that is the right mark for a year in which the simulation improved and the product did not.
