Weather that actually changes how the ball behaves, plus the deepest franchise mode Madden has shipped in a decade.

For once the marquee feature is not cosmetic. Live weather changes ball physics rather than just the sky texture, so a wet ball slips out of cold hands, wind bends a deep out, and a snow game genuinely rewards running between the tackles. Quarterback DNA gives passers distinct mechanics, release points and pressure behavior, which means playing as a scrambler feels different from playing as a pocket statue instead of merely reading different numbers.
Franchise finally has the depth people have been requesting since the last generation, with coaching trees that carry consequences, scouting that rewards attention, and a free agency period that behaves like a market. Superstar remains thin on narrative, Ultimate Team is still the loudest room, and the defensive AI can be exploited by the same handful of route concepts. But the football simulation underneath is the most complete Madden in years, and the improvements are structural rather than seasonal, which is precisely what earns the grade.
