Halo Infinite Review
2021343 IndustriesGame
The best Halo has felt in a decade, shipped inside a package that was visibly not finished.

The grappleshot fixes Halo. It gives the Chief a way to close distance, steal a Banshee, yank a fusion coil out of the air and turn every encounter into a question of positioning rather than a corridor of shields and headshots. Combined with the cleanest weapon sandbox since Combat Evolved and a sixty frame presentation on every machine it runs on, the moment to moment shooting here is the series high point, and the campaign's forward operating bases give Zeta Halo a decent playground for it.
Everything around that is where the trouble starts. The open world repeats its objectives long before it ends, the plot spends its runtime grieving events from a game that was never made, and the Weapon is a likeable character stranded in a story with nowhere to put her. Multiplayer launched free, played beautifully and shipped without campaign co-op, without Forge, without a working progression system and with a store that priced a coat of paint like a game. The shooting deserved better than the release it got, and years of patches never fully closed that gap.
