The guiding wind is the smartest interface decision in an open-world game this decade: delete the minimap, put the direction in the grass, and every screenshot becomes usable navigation. What sells it is a colour discipline most studios never attempt, fields of red spider lilies and gold pampas staged against grey sky so the eye always has somewhere to land. Combat is the surprise. Four stances counter four enemy types, parries have real windows, and the standoff mechanic asks you to hold still while a man swings at your face, which converts nerve into damage better than any skill tree.

The stealth half is competent rather than special, and the side content repeats its structures often enough that the map starts to feel like a checklist by the third act. Jin's slide from honour into pragmatism is told with restraint, and the Lord Shimura ending earns its weight. A gorgeous, confident debut for a studio previously known for cartoon superheroes.
