A gorgeous, generous open world with a casino bolted to the character select screen.

Genshin Impact's craft is not in question. Teyvat is a real open world, glide-anywhere traversal, elemental physics where electro conducts through water and pyro burns grass, and region art direction that reinvents the game's palette with every major update, all running acceptably on a mid-range phone. The elemental reaction system is a legitimately clever combat core: team building is chemistry, not just stat stacking. Years of updates have delivered orchestrated soundtracks, fully voiced questlines, and regions the size of other games' sequels, free at the point of entry.

The B ceiling is the business model's gravity. Character kits, the actual verbs of combat, sit behind limited banners with soft pity at seventy-plus pulls, artifact grinding is deliberately stingy, and resin gates daily progress to keep the calendar sticky. The story swings between bloated fetch scaffolding and genuinely affecting arcs. Remarkable machine, calculated leash: a B that half the industry now imitates.
