The ambition was real. Shiny shot an hour of new footage with the Wachowskis directing, wrote a plot that runs alongside Reloaded rather than retelling it, and let you play the two characters the film leaves offscreen. Then the game shipped in the condition of something built to a movie's release date rather than to a finish line. Focus mode slows time and looks fantastic for about an hour, but the shooting underneath has no weight, enemies absorb magazines without reacting, and melee collapses into mashing one button until an animation resolves.

Collision detection is unreliable enough that you will clip through geometry or die to it, the driving section is close to unplayable, and long stretches of the post office and power plant are grey corridors with nothing placed in them. What it has is novelty: the chance to play the scene between the films. That novelty expires well before the credits do.
