EA Sports UFC 6 Review

The best mixed martial arts game anyone has made, and still less than a three year gap between entries should buy.

Flow State is the idea the series needed. Fight the way the fighter you picked actually fights, volume or patience or pressure, and a meter fills toward boosts and finishing chances, which turns character selection into something more than a stat sheet with a face on it. The blocking rework splits guard into four stances, so defence is a read rather than a button, and the new physics give strikes a sense of mass that UFC 5 never found. Career mode opens with The Legacy, a scripted rivalry between two fighters that teaches the systems better than any tutorial, and the Hall of Legends museums built around Alex Pereira, Max Holloway and Zhang Weili are the best presentation EA Sports has put in a combat game.
Ninety one percent of critics recommended it and they are right that it is the strongest entry in the series. The gap between that and a higher grade is time. Three years produced better faces, better hits and one new meter, while the ground game, the career structure outside the prologue and the online modes sit close to where they were in 2023. Best in class, in a class of one.
