Losing the FIFA name forced EA to prove the football was the asset, and the engineering answer is more serious than the marketing was. PlayStyles give individual players legible, named strengths, so a Trivela specialist actually bends the ball differently, and HyperMotionV pulls animation data from real broadcast footage rather than a capture studio, smoothing the awkward transitions that dogged the previous engine. Women players slot into Ultimate Team squads for the first time, an obviously correct call, and rebuilding an entire brand identity on a twelve month clock is not trivial work.

The pitch problems are familiar ones. Through balls remain overtuned, the AI collapses into a low block the moment it leads, and defending an inch perfect cutback is closer to a coin flip than a read. Career mode gets tactical presets and a coach hiring loop that adds paperwork, not drama. Everything good here sits under a store that grows more aggressive each year, which is why a genuinely improved simulation lands mid alphabet.
