2019ZA/UMGame
A role-playing game with no combat, where the enemy is your own head and failing a check writes the better scene.

A role-playing game with no combat, where the enemy is your own head, and it makes that sound obvious rather than gimmicky. The twenty-four skills are characters who argue with you: Inland Empire insists a necktie is speaking, Electrochemistry begs for a drink, Logic sneers at both, and failing a check often produces a better scene than passing it would have. The Thought Cabinet converts ideas into equipment, so committing to a political worldview literally rewrites your stats.
Revachol is written with novelistic specificity, a city sunk in the aftermath of a failed revolution, and the oil-painted environments and Sea Power's score give it a hungover, rain-soaked weight nothing else looks like. The murder investigation is a real procedural underneath the philosophy, and the conversation on the coast in the final act reframes the entire week. It is dense to the point of exclusion, the isometric movement is clumsy, and anyone who dislikes reading will bounce immediately. No other game trusts its prose this completely.
