Kojima builds an entire genre out of walking, then dares you to call it boring.

Kojima Productions made a blockbuster about logistics, and it is either the most self-indulgent release of its year or the most original, depending on the hour you catch it. The central act is carrying things over ground that does not want you to. Weight distribution matters, rivers knock you flat, and a rock shelf you failed to read costs an hour of cargo. Slowly the map becomes legible, you start picking routes the way a hiker does, and the ladders and ropes that strangers left behind turn a lonely walk into a quiet argument for cooperation.
That structural idea, help arriving from players you will never meet, is the most humane thing in any big-budget game of the decade. The presentation is spectacular, with landscapes that still hold up and film actors used properly rather than as stunt casting. The combat stretches are a chore, the exposition runs long even by this studio's standards, and the first ten hours demand a faith many players will not have. Everyone who stays gets something nobody else was building.
