The disaster that finished becoming a masterpiece: Night City is the densest place ever rendered.

Judge the game that exists now, because the game that exists now deserves it. Night City is the most architecturally dense place ever rendered, a vertical maze of megabuildings, alleys, and advertising where every district has its own light; with path tracing on a strong PC it is simply the current visual ceiling. The writing is CD Projekt Red's best: V and Johnny Silverhand's hostile cohabitation gives the main arc a doomed-buddy energy, and side stories, Judy's dive, River's farmhouse, the Peralez conspiracy, land with a melancholy the genre rarely attempts.
The 2.0 overhaul rebuilt perks, police, and cyberware into a loop where builds finally feel transformative, netrunner ghost to sandevistan blur, though gunplay and driving still sit a notch below the fiction's promise, which is the A in gameplay. The 2020 console launch was indefensible and the grade does not pretend otherwise; it simply records that the finished thing, years on, is one of the medium's essential cities.
