The 2019 reboot is the rare franchise reset that earns the word. The new engine was a generational leap, photogrammetry environments, volumetric lighting, and an audio mix so spatially precise that footsteps became a balance controversy, and it carried the entire franchise era that followed, battle royale included. Clean House, the night-vision townhouse raid, is a masterclass in tension and the series' best mission since the Ghillies: slow, procedural, morally queasy in a way the rebooted Price is built to embody.
Gunsmith turned weapons into sixty-part hobby projects and reshaped how every shooter since handles attachment tuning. The campaign courts real-war imagery, gas attacks and proxy insurgencies, with more confidence than clarity in places, and launch multiplayer's camping-friendly map philosophy drew fair criticism, the reasons story and nothing else here dip to A. As a technical, tonal, and commercial resurrection, though, this is as complete as reboots get.
