Gorgeous, unfocused, and abandoned before it ever found its footing.

Battlefield V is the story of a live service with no service. Underneath the mess sits real craft: Frostbite's WWII Europe is frequently beautiful, the squad-revive and fortification systems were smart additions, and gunplay at its best had a crispness Battlefield 1 lacked. That is where the A for visuals comes from, and it is the only category that escapes the wreckage. Everything else was managed into the ground.
Launch content was thin, promised maps slipped for months, the time-to-kill was reworked twice against the community's loudest objections and reverted both times, and Firestorm, a genuinely decent battle royale, was starved of updates until it quietly died. The War Stories campaign traded coherence for vignettes that mostly evaporate on contact. The Pacific drop in late 2019 was excellent, and then EA ended support early anyway. A C is not harsh; it is the average of a B game and an F rollout.
