The most joyful platformer in a decade, built by a team that understands a controller better than anyone alive.

Every surface makes a different sound through the controller. Sand, metal grating, glass, water: the haptic vocabulary is granular enough that you can identify terrain with your eyes shut, and the adaptive triggers are used for actual mechanics rather than resistance for its own sake. Under the gimmickry sits a platformer with immaculate fundamentals, a hover jump with a generous but not forgiving arc, punch and spin attacks that read clearly, and levels short enough that each one can commit fully to a single transformation, the frog gloves, the dog rocket, the tiny mouse.

Boss encounters are the weak spot, more spectacle than challenge, and the difficulty stays low throughout by design. Nostalgia does a lot of lifting with cameo bots from thirty years of PlayStation history, which will read as charming or cynical depending on your history with the platform. Pure craft, and the strongest argument yet that Team Asobi should never make anything else.
