The records
Newest first, each with the line its review opens on.
2022Once Twice MelodyEighty four minutes of self produced strings and shimmer, containing an excellent single album inside it.
20187They break their own formula on purpose, get louder and stranger, and make their most alive record.
2015Depression CherryA deliberate retreat from the big drums back into the fog, gorgeous in patches and short on events.
2015Thank Your Lucky StarsA second album in three months, released with no warning, and it sounds like the material that did not make the first one.
2012BloomThe same formula scaled up to a cathedral, with the best sequencing and the best closing track they have.
2010Teen DreamThe haze burns off, the songs arrive, and the band goes from promising to essential in one record.
2008DevotionWarmer, longer and better sung than the debut, still hazy, and one great song ahead of it.
2006Beach HouseAn organ, a slide guitar and a drum machine in a basement. The blueprint arrives fully formed and very small.
