Most school romances run on obstacles. This one clears them away almost immediately. Suzuki likes Tani, says so early, and is met by a boy who answers questions literally and does not play games about any of it, so the remaining episodes are free to be about what two people actually do once the confession is out of the way.
The observation is the draw. Kocha Agasawa writes teenagers who sound fifteen. They overthink a text message for an hour, mistake kindness for interest, apologise for the wrong thing, and read enormous meaning into where somebody sits at lunch. The second couple get the same attention rather than being handed the comic relief, which is rare enough to notice, and the friendship group around them carries a real social hierarchy.
Lapin Track keep the animation modest and spend what they have on faces and hands: a shoulder turning away, a laugh held half a beat too long, fingers pulling at a sleeve. A light electronic score from tofubeats stops the whole thing turning syrupy. It was among the most watched series of both its seasons in 2026, and it earned that on warmth rather than incident.
